本分野では、脳神経系の制御メカニズムの解明、疾患の病態生理の理解、および治療法の開発に取り組んでいます。また、医学科学生を対象に、神経系の生理学に関する講義および実習を担当しています。
本分野の大きな特徴は、我が国を代表するアデノ随伴ウイルス（AAV）ベクターの開発拠点である点にあります。AAVベクター製剤は近年、さまざまな難治性疾患の治療において顕著な成果を示しており、私たちは新規AAVベクターの開発、神経系難病に対する遺伝子治療法への応用、さらに開発したAAVベクターの供給を行っています。

Our laboratory focuses on elucidating the regulatory mechanisms of the nervous system, understanding the pathophysiology of neurological diseases, and developing novel therapeutic strategies. We are also responsible for lectures and practical training in neurophysiology for medical students.
A defining feature of our laboratory is that it serves as one of Japan’s leading centers for the development of adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors. In recent years, AAV-based therapeutics have demonstrated remarkable efficacy in the treatment of various intractable diseases. In this context, we are engaged in the development of novel AAV vectors, their application to gene therapy for neurological disorders, and the distribution of the AAV vectors developed in our laboratory.
