Medical Neuroscience


Our department has history long as a pioneer of neurosurgey in North Kanto area, and has carried out the surgical treatment of the brain and the spinal diseases broadly. Especially, to the difficult brain diseases of medical treatment, we have been trying safe operation, performing the monitoring of brain or spinal cord function, and using the neuro-endoscope. It is also one of our special features to perform surgical treatment to the intractable pain, epilepsy, and movement disorders represented by Parkinson’s disease. As basic research, the elucidation of pathophysiology of neurosurgical diseases such as, cerebro-vascular disease, brain tumor, and a functional are aimed at.
Furthermore, from November, 2002, the stroke center is established in Gunma University hospital. We take care of patients with brain attack, such as intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and cerebral infarction. We are trying hard to provide you with the best medical treatment at any time.

In order to develop neurosurgery for the treatment of all kinds of neurosurgical diseases, such as cerebrovascular disease, brain tumor, functional disorders, it is important to clarify their pathophysiology and develop new treatment method. For those purposes, we lecture on various kinds of research and lead students to make a plan and a protocol of the research. We also teach experimental techniques. We finally lead students to make a individual scientific paper.
