The Course of Medical Sciences is reorganized into a major course that is composed of 4 Divisions and 8 Subdivisions on April, 2003. Each Subdivision declares their main reseach project on which basic and clinical Departments integratively carry out the collaborations.
We have developed our own facilities for promoting biomedical researches and contributing to the society. Functional analyses of the genes and proteins are proceeded in Gene Reseach Center and other joint research facilities, and the patent acquisition of the results is steadily promoted through the Center of Cooperative Research. Applications for advanced medical treatment and new drugs are also prompted through the Clinical Investigation and Reseach Unit of the University Hospital.
Several courses are available for students seeking to do graduate work at Gunma University: (1) the PhD course is designed for highly qualified students interested in a career in medical science and academic medicine. Prerequisites for admission include a master's degree or a bachelor's degree from medical school; (2) the MD & PhD course is applicable for undergraduate students of Gunma University School of Medicine; (3) the special night course for members of the society. Prerequisites for admission include a master's degree or a bachelor's degree from medical school.
Graduate-level integrated courses are available for every students, and dissertation researches are conducted within one of the Departments on a man-to-man basis. The curriculum starts with core courses in genetics, cell biology and analytical statistics, and builds to advanced studies of the molecular basis of human disease. Practices of biomedical and animal experiments are also provided. |
